Chemigrams & Lumen Prints

alternative photography, chemigram, fine art photography, hand made photography

The chemigram process was discovered by Pierre Cordier on November 10, 1956. It is a unique process that uses resists on photographic paper much the same way as wax is used as a resist in batik.

Coconut oil was used as the resist in these images. Alternating back and forth between developer & fixative to create the final images.

This series of Chemigrams & one Lumen print are created from my early morning meditations overlooking the landscape. These cameraless images, for me, have a painterly involvement including marks made with the hand; each individual, just like dawn, a rebirth.
The arch throughout the world represents new beginnings. Today, just today, as the sun emerges over the horizon, is my outlook for a new beginning.
