Nancy Dodd, a Santa Fe, New Mexico based artist/photographer, received her Master of Fine Arts at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Creating art before she could write her name, she now works in her private studio in the quiet foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Originally a painter in various media and an intermittent photographer, Nancy has blended her two passions through handmade photography. She has been honing her artistic skills in one of the first photographic processes, historical, or non-silver processes for the past several years.
Composition and the manipulation of light, shadow, and texture have always been the focus of Nancy’s art. Her passion for creating handmade photographs has grown with her exposure to the magic of chemistry and how it can be transformed to develop the final image.
The basis of photography is light and shadow: seeing the image come to life on artist paper was all it took for Nancy to marry her painting and drawing skills with the world of Alternative Photography.
