Nancy Dodd, a Santa Fe, New Mexico based artist/photographer, received her Master of Fine Arts at the University of California in Santa Barbara in painting and drawing. Currently working in her private studio in the quiet foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Nancy has blended her two passions of painting and photography through exploration of handmade photographic processes. What was a natural progression from painting to alternative photography, the handmade print was a perfect match for expanding her artistic visions. Composition and the manipulation of light, shadow, and texture have always been the focus of Nancy’s art. Her passion for creating handmade photographs has grown with her exposure to the magic of chemistry and how it can be transformed to develop the final image.
The basis of photography is light and shadow: seeing the image come to life on artist paper was all it took for Nancy to marry her painting and drawing skills with the world of Alternative Photography.
